Beautiful, high-end furnishings & appointments. The bed and linens were amazingly clean, of highest quality, & very comfortable. I was concerned that it was on the first floor (I had requested a quiet room) but it was extremely quiet; plus a sound machine was provided (not needed.) Would have appreciated an in-room coffeemaker (it’s odd to me that cheaper hotels have them…) Or maybe a printed menu of breakfast options at the bar? Noting room service, if available? (Admittedly, I didn’t check in the room binder that had lots of information to read…perhaps I missed it.) I was told “breakfast bites” at the bar; but had no idea what that meant (or how much) when I popped in to buy a glass of wine to take to my room with dinner. Also, a small thing: I was asked to walk down to the register to pay…. just a training issue; it was handled professionally. All in all, a great experience & I would definitely return.
We loved every minute of our time at the Rathbone! A truly stunning transformation of a historic building into a boutique hotel. Modern upgrades and spacious rooms with high ceilings made for a lovely stay. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. Check in was quick and easy with an access code provided prior to arrival. A highlight of our stay was visiting the parlor bar. Our bartender, Maddie, made us some incredible craft cocktails and Jay took over as barista in the morning serving up great coffee and conversation. Location is convenient to all that Montrose has to offer and Ridgeway, Orvis Hotsprings and Telluride are just a short drive away. We will stay again on our next trip to Montrose!
We had a wonderful stay at The Rathbone! Even though it’s not a traditional hotel with a lobby or front desk, the service was incredibly attentive and welcoming. We stayed in one of the loft rooms, which was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed. The tall windows added a charming touch of original architectural character that made the space feel special. While we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the Parlor Bar this time, it looked like a great spot, we’ll definitely check it out on our next visit. The location was perfect, within easy reach of local restaurants and just a short drive to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!
We stayed for one night at the Rathbone and loved our stay! The check in process was seamless and everyone we spoke with, from the bar staff downstairs to the quick responses from hotel management via text, was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean and everyone detail has been thought through - we sleep with a white noise machine at home and finding one already in the hotel room when we arrived was the icing on the cake! Great location, walkable to restaurants and coffee shops, and safe! Would definitely stay again!
Our stay was nice, but did leave a few things to be desired. It was decorated very cute, but didn’t feel functional at times. For example, it had barely any plugs for our devices. I had to unplug several hotel items and then those plugs didn’t even work. Only one USB plug which was on a lamp that had to be moved to a space where the outlet worked. The walls are very thin as well. It worked well for one night and was very aesthetic. A few design changes (adding more plugs, more space to put items on, etc., a shower where you could adjust water pressure) would make a big difference. The workers in the bar area were very friendly and while I’m not sure if they work for the hotel at all, they did improve our experience by greeting us, offering to help get the doors, providing silverware, etc.).
